Sakura Season, two weeks of virtual and live events featuring Nashville’s beautiful cherry blossom trees and Japanese culture, premieres on March 29th. It will be a celebration of the 1,000 cherry blossoms planted in 38 Nashville parks and neighborhoods during the 2009-2018 Nashville Cherry Blossom Tree Planting Project.
Organizations from all over Nashville will join Sakura Season, hosting events dedicated to Japan and cherry blossom trees during Japan Week. Organized by the Consulate-General of Japan in Nashville, Japan Week events will be held online and outdoors using safe social distancing guidelines.
Sister Cities of Nashville, host of the Cherry Blossom Walk, is encouraging cherry blossom tree enthusiasts to join Sakura Season by taking a one-mile walk anywhere in Nashville and sending their best photo of cherry blossom trees to Sister Cities. Winning photographs will be announced on Sister Cities of Nashville social media on April 10th. For more information, visit the Sister Cities website at https://www.scnashville.org.
