   To further our city's commitment to the relationship with our Japanese friends and in honor of their culture, we have a series of events that celebrate the Cherry Trees and the Sakura.

     A "Cherry Blossom" is the flower of the cherry tree known as Sakura (桜or 櫻, さくら). In 2009,  the Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival Committee committed to plant 1,000 cherry trees by planting 100 trees every spring over 10 years. These cherry trees will not only beautify Nashville's landscape, but also provide a backdrop for the annual Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival.

     Cherry Blossoms, or Sakura, have been the symbol of U.S.-Japan friendship since the Mayor of Tokyo donated 3,000 cherry trees to Washington, D.C. in 1912. 2012 marks "The Centennial of the Gift of the Trees" and both countries are celebrating this once-in-a-lifetime milestone of friendship though special events throughout the year.

私達の町と日本人友人との友好関係促進、そして、日本の文化をお祝いする為、桜の木々と桜の花の祝賀イベントを用意致しました。

2009年にナッシュビル桜祭り委員会では、10年間かけて毎年春に100本、合計1,000本の桜の木を植樹する計画を立てました。これらの桜の木はナッシュビルの景色を美しく演出するだけではなく、毎年行われる桜祭りを盛り上げる事でしょう。

桜・チェリーブロッサムは、1912年に東京都知事が3,000本の桜の木をワシントンD.C.に寄付して以来、日米友好のシンボルとなっています。
