Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund Established
In the wake of the large-scale, unprecedented earthquake and subsequent tsunami that hit Northeastern Japan and its Pacific Coast, our heartfelt sympathies are with the nation for the lives tragically lost and resources and infrastructure destroyed.
After-shocks continue and assessments of the extent of the devastation are still in their early stages. Japan's recovery will be a long and intensive one that will require patience and help from its friends around the world.
In this spirit, JAST has established the "Tennessee Tomodachi Fund" for Earthquake and Tsunami Relief. 100% of donations received will be directed to relief agencies inside Japan. If you would like to participate with us, donations are being accepted through PayPal and by check payable to Japan-America Society of Tennessee, Inc. (please note Tennessee Tomodachi Fund in the memo portion of your check) Your donation will be tax deductible to the extent that Federal law allows.
Please note that PayPal will waive all transaction fees until April 10, 2011. Thereafter, donations less the transaction fees charged will be directed to Japan Relief.
